Set your child in year 3 the task of trying to read a book from each of the following sections.

A book that was made into a film

A book set in Africa

A graphic nove

An adventure book (e.g. A Boy and a Bear in a Boat by Dave Shelton)

A book written by Kate Di Camillo (e.g. The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane or The Tale of Despereaux )

A book by Dick King

A book with a myth or legend in it (e.g. How the Whale Became by Ted Hughes)

A book published in the last century (e.g. The Borrowers by Mary Norton)

A book by David Almond (e.g. My Dad’s a Birdman)

A book where the main character is an animal (e.g. the Claude series)

A humorous book (e.g. Fizzlebert Stump by A. F. Harrold)

A fantasy or magical book (e.g. Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis)

A book from a series you haven’t read before

Non-fiction

A book about robots or technology

A book about science

A book about a famous person from history

A book about Egypt or the Tudors

Fiction or Non-Fiction

A book about sport

A book published in 2017 or 2018

A book recommended to you by a friend
